Strongly anisotropic ion emission in the expansion of Nd:YAG-laser-produced plasma

چکیده

We present results from a combined experimental and numerical simulation study of the anisotropy expansion laser-produced plasma into vacuum. Plasma is generated by nanosecond Nd:YAG laser pulse impact (laser wavelength [Formula: see text]) onto tin microdroplets. Simultaneous measurements ion kinetic energy distributions at seven angles with respect to direction beam reveal strong anisotropic emission characteristics, in close agreement predictions two-dimensional radiation-hydrodynamic simulations. Angle-resolved spectral are further shown provide an accurate prediction propulsion laser-impacted droplet.

Expansion dynamics of laser produced plasma

We consider the applicability of the isentropic, adiabatic gas dynamical model of plume expansion for laser ablation in vacuum. We show that the model can be applied to ionized plumes and estimate the upper electron temperature limit on the applicability of the isentropic approximation. The model predictions are compared with Langmuir ion probe measurements and deposition profiles obtained for ...

Numerical Analysis of Laser Produced Plasma Expansion with Large Ion Larmor Radius via 3D PIC Simulation

Expansion phenomena of laser produced cluster plasma in an external strong magnetic field have been studied. In the cluster plasma expansion process, the ion Larmor radius is often much larger than the initial cluster size, while the electron Larmor radius is smaller than the cluster size, namely, Re < R0 Ri, where Re(i) is Larmor radius of electron (ion) and R0 is the initial cluster size. W...

Kinetics of ion and prompt electron emission from laser-produced plasma

We investigated ion emission dynamics of laser-produced plasma from several elements, comprised of metals and non-metals (C, Al, Si, Cu, Mo, Ta, W), under vacuum conditions using a Faraday cup. The estimated ion flux for various targets studied showed a decreasing tendency with increasing atomic mass. For metals, the ion flux is found to be a function of sublimation energy. A comparison of temp...

Characteristics of Ions Emission from Ultrashort Laser Produced Plasma

The dynamic characteristics of the ions emitted from ultrashort laser interaction with materials were studied. A series of successive experiments were conducted for six different elements (C, Al, Cu, Mo, Gd, and W) using 40 fs, 800 nm Ti: Sapphire laser. Time-of-flight (TOF) ion profile was analyzed and charge emission dependencies were investigated. The effects of incident laser interaction wi...
